Premiere: WEES - 95 Secures
Marc Tromp also known as WEES is an electronic music DJ and Producer based in Amsterdam and a resident of the event organisation SKIN.
His musical journey began over a decade ago when he delved into music production with little more than an old version of Fruity Loops and a burning passion to learn and express himself. WEES explored a wide spectrum of electronic music genres at various events, but his artistic evolution had a turning point with the emergence of De School in Amsterdam. This venue and the experiences it offered played a pivotal role in shaping his musical perspective. Simultaneously, the Orphic community was born, connecting him with like-minded individuals who ignited his inspiration even more. Last but not least, deep and long discussions about electronic music with his best friends Jaipa and IGNOTA, where they learned a lot from each other, have been instrumental to WEES’ artistic growth and reaching the milestone of releasing his debut album.
The young artist’s interests are not limited to only techno in its pure form. He holds fascination for experimental music, ambient and even breakbeat. While sharing his story, WEES is primarily focused on seeking ultimate freedom. Through crafting moments of ecstasy and infusing the heat that can immerse you in this musical journey, largely influenced by psychedelic sound elements, he channels his deepest emotions and closest relationships. His current sound can be described as deep, dark and hypnotic, and an experience that played a big role into shaping it has been his last night at De School before the pandemic featuring Oscar Mulero and Talismann. From that moment on, WEES started to explore the obscure sound in electronic music.
Most recently, WEES became a resident of the Amsterdam-based event organisation SKIN. To him, it’s an honour to be part of their community and contribute to it with his music, both behind the DJ booth and as a producer. Additionally, he is happy to be surrounded by serious and driven people, who share the same vision about the scene and how to create valuable experiences and grow together.
Nowadays, when he is in his studio, he approaches production in a structured way driven by everyday inspirations like a good article, or his thoughts and feelings about certain people or objects. With already a few releases under his belt, WEES is due to release his debut album called ‘’External Reflection’’ on the 3rd of November independently on Bandcamp.
As this has been a very personal project that embodies impressions from his entire artistic journey and personal growth, he wanted to take this courageous step and keep things in his hands. The album can be described as a love letter to all the important people in his life, and today I will premiere the prelude to that letter – the opening track ‘’95 Secures’’ that has been written and dedicated to WEES’ mother.
A dark and droning ambient atmosphere leads us into a deep story that unfolds in many ways illustrating the current sound vision of the young producer.
